Amistad is the name of a slave ship travelling from Cuba to the U.S. in 1839. It draws heavily upon the W.A. On June 28, 1839, 53 slaves recently captured in Africa left Havana, Cuba, aboard the Amistad schooner for a sugar plantation at Puerto Principe, Cuba.
