About UMCCC

The Upper Murrumbidgee Catchment Coordinating Committee is a community-based organisation made up of agencies and groups that are responsible for natural resource management in the upper Murrumbidgee catchment. The UMCCC operates as a regional cross-border network to enhance communication between agencies and groups in NSW and the Australian Capital Territory which lie wholly within the upper catchment of the Murrumbidgee River. The upper catchment of the Murrumbidgee River is above the Burrunjuck Dam wall.

What does the UMCCC do? The UMCCC employs a facilitator to convene meetings, coordinate policy and funding submissions and communication activities. Bi-monthly meetings are held in different locations in the upper catchment and cover reports about current government and community NRM activities, topical presentations by guest speakers and field trips to NRM project sites. The UMCCC undertakes a diverse range of activities, including:

  • prepares submissions to public inquiries, policy and regulatory reviews affecting NRM;
  • convenes a biennial public Forum on regional NRM issues;
  • develops communication resource material including Look after your Natural Assets ( pdf 1.9MB), a resource book for rural landholders managing bush blocks and small acreages and Fact Sheets series - Choosing and Managing Land;
  • fosters strategic capacity building projects including current proposals for engaging regional local government and a socio-economic profile of the upper catchment.
